Toronto based cellist, Elizabeth Lee, is a passionate performer in solo, chamber and orchestral disciplines.

From an early age, Elizabeth enjoyed performing. Some of her favourite memories include performing in the Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra, performing chamber works in Italy, and being invited to perform in Chicago with her high school orchestra. These experiences led her to pursue a career as a professional cellist.

Throughout her career, she’s had opportunities to learn from and collaborate with leading musicians of the century; some including Matt Haimovitz, David Hetherington, Eric Kim, Pacifica Quartet, and Joshua Bell, whom she credits her musical influences to.

Elizabeth completed her Master’s of Music at the Jacobs School of Music, Indiana University, as a scholar of the Artistic Excellence Award. While studying, she started her orchestral career with various orchestras of Indiana.

Upon graduating in 2017, Elizabeth was invited for an apprenticeship at the Institute of Orchestral Studies with the National Arts Centre Orchestra (Ottawa), where she had the opportunity to play under the leadership of David Briskin, Christian Zacharias, John Storgards, Jack Everly, and Alexander Shelley.

During 2020-2022, she was in S.Korea performing chamber music, and participated in projects with Seocho Philharmonic Orchestra.

Though her career started in orchestral playing, she regularly performs chamber music and holds annual solo recitals. Today, she is based in Toronto and regularly performs in the city.

While actively performing, Elizabeth is also a passionate and dedicated teacher, teaching students of all ages and levels.

Elizabeth holds a Master’s of Music and a Performance Diploma from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, and a Bachelor’s of Music from McGill University Schulich School of Music.
